Former Coinbase CTO, Balaji Srinivasan, and Head of Stanford Cryptography, Prof. Dan Boneh, Join Findora as Strategic Advisors
Balaji Srinivasan and Professor Dan Boneh join Findora on mission to build a global, decentralized financial infrastructure
Menlo Park — August 15, 2019 — Findora, the cryptographically transparent public blockchain for building decentralized financial applications, has announced two new strategic advisors; Balaji Srinivasan, former CTO of Coinbase, and Professor Dan Boneh, Head of Stanford Cryptography.
Prior to joining Coinbase, Srinivasan was General Partner at Andreessen Horowitz, and co-founder of Earn.com, Counsyl, Teleport and Coin Center. As co-founder and CTO of Counsyl, Srinivasan won a Wall Street Journal Innovation Award for Medicine. Srinivasan is also a Stanford graduate. Professor Dan Boneh, head of the Stanford Applied Crypto Group, is the author of over 100 publications in his field and a recipient of the Packard Award, the Alfred P. Sloan Award, the RSA Award in Mathematics, and the Okawa Foundation Award.
Commenting on his new role, Professor Dan Boneh said: “Findora’s vision is to be the Internet of the finance world, and to decentralize and revitalize the global financial system. Blockchain alone will not replace trust in our financial institutions. There is a strong need for privacy and data safety features of the type Findora is developing and that will make Findora a powerful hub for storing the world’s financial data. I am excited to work with the team on this technically deep project, and to help Findora achieve its goal of creating a decentralized financial network.”
The Findora team has set its sights on building global financial infrastructure where anyone can build and make use of financial services, whether they are individuals, small and medium-sized enterprises, or industry giants. Information stored and shared on the Findora network will be compliant and transparent — fully confidential yet auditable. The platform will initially support a multitude of applications, including open banking, asset securitization, trading systems, and peer-to-peer (P2P) lending solutions.
Findora, which was established in July 2018, boasts a team of global leaders in the fields of distributed ledger technologies, financial markets, and entrepreneurship. Srinivasan and Bonah will join respected industry expert and Professor of Computer Science at City College of New York, Rosario Gennaro, as strategic advisors to Findora. The Findora team, born out of Stanford University, includes other well-known industry names including Ben Fisch, inventor of Filecoin proof-of-storage mining and VDFs; Benedikt Bunz, inventor of Bulletproofs & VDFs; and John Powers, former head of Stanford’s $25bn endowment fund.
CEO of Findora, Charles Lu, commented: “We are excited to welcome Professor Dan Boneh and Balaji Srinivasan to our team as we work towards a new global financial system where users control their own financial data, identity and assets. These renowned industry experts have unrivaled knowledge in fintech, digital infrastructure, blockchain, cryptography, and beyond, putting them at the forefront of their respective fields.”
