The Six Dragons Uses Blockchain to Crowdfund Over $90,000 for Their Game in 24 hours

The Six Dragons, a member of the new ‘Enjin Spark’ featured adopter program, have used their early access to Enjin’s blockchain game development tools to raise over US $90,000 in crowdfunding in less than 24 hours.

16 May 2019, SINGAPOREThe Six Dragons, labeled by fans as “Skyrim on the blockchain,” has announced that their blockchain asset pre-sale has nearly sold out within 24 hours of the crowdfunding campaign going live. The game’s pre-sale earnings total over US $90,000 in revenue, with one user purchasing $20,000 worth of assets.

With their pre-sale items backed by more than 150,000 Enjin Coin (ENJ)—a cryptocurrency valued at $0.155133 at the time of writing—The Six Dragons will have raised over $150,000 in crowdfunding when the pre-sale is complete, grossing $129,000 in profit on their ENJ investment. The team has stated that funding will be used to hire new developers and expand the game’s design, including a cross-platform crafting tool for mobile.

Because it is used to create blockchain assets on the Ethereum Network, ENJ has been classed as a utility token. When an asset is created with Enjin’s blockchain game development platform, ENJ is locked inside it as a guarantee of value and liquidity. Asset holders can use the Enjin Wallet to “melt” their assets down to retrieve the ENJ from within, thus destroying them forever. However, most assets feature in-game utility and on-chain scarcity that raises their market price far beyond the ENJ reserve value, leading holders to more frequently trade their assets on peer-to-peer marketplaces rather than melting them.

The Six Dragons team began production of their game in 2015, successfully crafting an open-world experience featuring 64km2 of procedurally generated gameplay, 1 billion randomly generated dungeons, in-depth crafting mechanics with harvesting and mining, and an open build class system. After completing a successful closed-alpha phase, the team was prepared to launch on Steam early access in March 2019 but decided to postpone in order to integrate a robust blockchain economy into their gameplay via the Enjin Platform.

Following Enjin’s public release of their Blockchain SDK for Unity in March, The Six Dragons team used the Testnet version to complete robust blockchain integration in two days and released videos showcasing how players can link their blockchain wallets to the game, receive blockchain assets while playing, enchant them with special properties, and craft them into completely new assets. The team was soon offered early access to the Mainnet version of the Enjin Platform, enabling them to create ENJ-backed blockchain assets.

The Six Dragons plans to offer its players the opportunity to create real-world value through in-game effort by enabling them to receive, enchant, and craft their assets on the blockchain. Players can own these assets forever, trade them freely, sell them for a profit, and seamlessly use them in the game and its companion app. The team is also taking advantage of decentralized blockchain technology to distribute in-game assets before the game even launches. With the ability to distribute these assets through websites, games, apps, chat rooms, and even directly through social media, a vast array of marketing and monetization opportunities .

The Six Dragons is a member of ‘Enjin Spark,’ a featured adopter program that provides early access to Enjin’s Mainnet tools, exclusive blockchain consulting services, and a supply of ‘multiverse’ assets that will be usable in over 30 games, apps, and platforms. Available publicly, the Testnet version of the Enjin Platform has already attracted nearly 5,000 users, allowing them to create blockchain assets on the Ethereum Kovan Network and integrate them into their games, apps, websites, and software using Enjin’s intuitive SDKs and APIs.

Another Enjin Spark game, Space Misfits has announced they will be launching the world’s first blockchain economy-driven open-world RPG on May 25. Players will be able to roam through the Space Misfits universe, claiming thousands of ENJ-backed blockchain assets which they will be able to use in games or sell peer-to-peer. At the time of launch, Space Misfits will be the most expansive blockchain gaming experience available to gamers.

Earlier this week, Enjin officially opened applications for the Spark program. Developers interested in building their own economies on the blockchain can apply now at https://enj.li/spark

About Enjin

In 2009, Enjin launched the Enjin Network, a gaming community platform which boasts over 20 million users. In 2017 following a successful ICO that raised $18.9 million, Enjin began building a suite of blockchain products that enable anyone to easily create, manage, trade, store, explore, distribute, and integrate blockchain assets.

Comprised of the Enjin Platform, Explorer, Wallet, Beam, and other tools and services, Enjin’s tools enable game developers and studios to utilize tokenized digital assets as part of their acquisition, retention, engagement, and monetization strategies. The Enjin ecosystem is fueled by Enjin Coin (ENJ), an Ethereum-based cryptocurrency used to directly back the value of Enjin-powered blockchain assets.
